How can we choose the right people in a farm transition or corporation’s succession plan?
Whether for farm transition or a corporation’s succession plan, the owners, founders and managers must assign new roles to the right people, otherwise, the consequences can be costly and lead to frustrations. Think twice before selecting people because they've been longer or more deeply involved in the organization. A person can excel in one role but not in another.
The best decisions match personality to a role using objective data that predicts future performance. There is a digital technology that generates such data and yet it is not widely used in ag. Not taking advantage of it is a missed opportunity to create plans with a higher level of confidence.
